About Caked By Rach

Hi, my name is Rachel, you may know me from my social media platform “caked by Rach”.

I was born and raised in Lancashire. UK. I moved to Dublin, Ireland when I was in my twenties to work as a flight attendant. This is where I met my husband and had my three sons. Myself, my husband and three children now live in Perth, western Australia.

For as far back as I can remember, I had a love of decorating cakes. When I was young, I used to make the figures to sit on top of the Christmas tree and spend hours baking with my Nana.

I discovered my real passion for baking and decorating cakes in 2012 when I made my sons christening cake. I enjoyed it so much that I went on to create cakes for any occasion you can think of. Back then it was more fondant covered cakes with handmade figures on top. I would spend hours making and decorating cakes. As our family grew, life got busy and there was no time for cake decorating. In 2020 during the covid 19 pandemic, I was Home-schooling two children with a new baby. The world was a strange place, and I was missing something creative. This is when i discovered my love for cupcakes. The first-time using piping tips and buttercream was a disaster, but I persisted, and I practiced and that was the start of caked by Rach. I started to share my work on social media, and it took off quite quickly. Here we are today.
